The Alpujarra, up close: a 1964 modern house below Sierra Nevada

An overhanging roof, floor-to-ceiling windows and a pool facing the mountains: the story of a house ahead of its time.

The house and the pool lit up at dusk

In 1964, in a village of white houses with flat clay roofs, a doctor from Granada commissioned a house unlike any other: a single storey, an overhanging roof and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Sixty years later, the 2022 restoration has recovered the original joinery and opened the kitchen onto the garden of cacti and palm trees, without touching what made the house special: the mountains, always in front of it.
